Are you interested in becoming a CPS Lives artist? We are now accepting applications for our 2023-2024 cycle! Click here to apply!

CPS (Chicago Public Schools) Lives is a 501(c)(3) non-profit arts organization founded in 2017 by photographer Suzette Bross. CPS Lives pairs Chicago artists with a Chicago Public School to create a residency during the academic year. Each of our artists creates and collaborates with their school on a unique project which will share the individual story of each Chicago Public School. Each story is celebrated and exhibited at local community spaces, virtual and in person gallery shows, as well as existing on the CPS Lives website. CPSLives.org serves as an accessible digital archive of history for students, families, community members, educators, administrators, policymakers & the general public.

CPS Lives artists will receive a stipend of $1,000, will have their work (both CPS Lives and personal work) promoted on our social media channels, and have the opportunity to to showcase their work in various exhibitions, publications, and events. In addition each year selected artists will be featured to showcase their work at our EXPO CHICAGO booth.

CPS Lives especially encourages artists from historically underrepresented and underserved backgrounds including Black, Indigenous, artists of color, LGBTQ2+, women and persons with disabilities to apply. CPS Lives also welcomes alumni of CPS to apply.

In order to be a CPS Lives artist you MUST be able to complete and pass a background check in order to work with Chicago Public Schools.

The deadline to apply for this residency is June 1st.
